The 2009 Emerald City Open will serve as the 2009 Pacific Northwest Association Open (Ages 20+) and Junior (Ages 14-19) Championships.

The purpose of this meet is to provide a high quality meet for athletes of all ability levels in the Pacific Northwest, to provide athletes an opportunity to qualify for the USA Track and Field Junior or Open Championships in Eugene, and to increase awareness of other local USA Track and Field competitive opportunities.

The meet is open to all athletes, however, only athletes with a 2009 USATF membership who reside in the Pacific Northwest Association will be eligible for medals. Fully automatic timing will be used.

Eligibility

Junior athletes must be at least 14 years old on the day of competition but not turn 20 years old during 2009. Only athletes with a 2009 USATF membership who reside in the Pacific Northwest Association will be eligible for medals.

There is no upper age limit for open athletes. Masters athletes are encouraged to attend, but due to time constraints, only limited accommodations can be made in the hurdles and field events. Please check the schedule for more details. For open athletes, the 3k racewalk championship will be in he June 6 meet at West Seattle Stadium, but any eligible junior athletes at this meet will be able to win medals. The Open and Junior Championships in the javelin and 10k will be July 22nd at Shoreline Stadium. For the Steeplechase and hammer it will be July 22nd at West Seattle Stadium. Only athletes with a 2009 USATF membership who reside in the Pacific Northwest Association (western Washington) will be eligible for medals. Top 3 eligible athletes will get medals.

Directions

The meet will be held at Woolsey Stadium at King's High School. The track is tricky to find, you will not get good directions from Google or Mapquest. Please follow these directions:
From I-5, take the 175th St exit in Shoreline (exit 176)
Head west on 175th (That's a right turn if you were driving southbound and a left turn if you were driving northbound)
Go past Aurora, then turn right on Fremont Ave N
Left on 190th (You'll see signs pointing toward the stadium)
If parking is available in the Woolsey Stadium lot you can park there, otherwise, follow the road as it winds around the track and park by Mike Martin gym then follow the paved path up to the track. (There will be signs for parking)
There is a ton of parking behind the gym. Do not park in the Cristwood reserved spots. Do not park on the street and do not otherwise park illegally.
